(Psychiatric Disorders/Anxiety)

Mental Disorders (Anxiety) and Ayurveda: Searching for Mental Peace in an Increasingly Competitive World
In today’s fast-paced and highly competitive world, new diseases and health problems are increasing across the globe. However, one of the most neglected yet rapidly increasing health concerns is mental health disorders, particularly anxiety and other psychiatric disorders.
While living with big dreams and ambitions, today’s individual has gradually forgotten the importance of inner peace and mental satisfaction. The constant rush, competition, expectations, and stress of modern life are having a direct impact on both our mental and physical health.
Physical Disease or Symptoms of Mental Stress?
Today, conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, and thyroid disorders are increasingly seen in households. Mental stress can significantly contribute to the development and worsening of many physical health conditions. When the mind is disturbed, maintaining overall physical well-being also becomes difficult.
People seem to have forgotten how to laugh and enjoy life. Anger, jealousy, resentment, and hostility towards others are increasing. Small issues often turn into arguments, and sometimes people take these conflicts to extreme levels.
It is important to understand:
You have no complete control over either money or life itself. Then why carry so much anger, hatred, and resentment?
Forget. Forgive. Move Forward.
Excessive Competition and the Loss of Humanity
We have forgotten that competition can be entered with happiness, sportsmanship, and mutual respect. Instead, we have become trapped in a race where the goal is often to defeat someone else and move ahead.
We have also lost sight of how much money and how many material things we actually need to live a meaningful life.
The most valuable thing in this world is our breath, which is given to us freely. Yet, we have started measuring almost everything in terms of money.
Hatred, anger, irritation, and jealousy increase the ego, and from there begins the endless and sometimes destructive competition for money, status, and success.
Understanding that every person is connected to humanity and preserving human values has become extremely important today.
It is easy to say this, but what about people who are extremely difficult or disturbing?
Let them go.
They may themselves be struggling with emotional or mental health problems. They may need proper treatment, guidance, understanding, and support.
Simple and Effective Ways to Manage Anxiety
To overcome anxiety and mental restlessness, there is no need to visit expensive places, display happiness on social media, or search for happiness through a mobile phone.
True satisfaction can often be found in the people around us and in the simple moments of everyday life.
1. Start Your Day with a Smile
A peaceful and positive mind can help reduce many problems.
When you wake up in the morning, be thankful to God for giving you another day.
Learn to express gratitude every day.
2. Help Others Without Hesitation
Try to help someone every day, whether through a small gesture or a meaningful act of support.
Helping others creates a sense of purpose, connection, and inner satisfaction.
3. Do Not Carry Thoughts About People You Dislike
If there is someone you do not like, try not to continuously think about them—neither positively nor negatively.
Let go and move forward.
4. Meet People and Share Happiness
Spend time with family members, relatives, and friends.
Celebrate the small moments of life and learn to find happiness in simple interactions.
5. Try to Understand People
People who are constantly irritated, angry, frustrated, or under mental stress may themselves be struggling.
Instead of responding to their anger with more anger, try to understand that they may need love, understanding, communication, and an opportunity to express themselves.
6. Take Care of Your Body and Mind
Eat a nutritious and balanced diet.
Spend quality time with your family.
Exercise regularly.
Go for a walk in the fresh air.
Give yourself time away from unnecessary stress and excessive digital exposure.
Timely Treatment and the Ayurvedic Approach
A person experiencing mental health problems may require appropriate counselling, psychotherapy, and, when indicated, medical treatment and medication.
Timely professional help is extremely important. If mental health problems are ignored for a long time, a person may gradually lose confidence, relationships, productivity, and eventually a sense of connection with oneself.
Ayurveda is not limited only to physical treatment. It also emphasizes the maintenance of mental well-being and a balanced way of living.
Know yourself.
Discover your inner satisfaction.
Find your happiness.
Life may have challenges, but life is truly beautiful.
“There is no problem in the world that lasts forever. When difficulties arise, remain calm, allow time to pass, and remember that every problem has a solution. Keep smiling, make others smile, lend a helping hand, and live a simple and meaningful life.”
Recognize the Warning Signs
If you experience any of the following symptoms:
Difficulty sleeping or disturbed sleep
Palpitations or a feeling of increased heartbeat
Persistent fear or unexplained anxiety
Reduced self-confidence
Repeatedly asking the same question
Sudden episodes of crying
Preferring to remain alone or withdrawing from others
Persistent irritability
Frequent anger or emotional outbursts
Do not ignore these symptoms. Consult an experienced healthcare professional or Ayurvedic physician for proper evaluation and guidance.
Do Not Be Afraid. Recovery Is Possible.
Mental health problems are treatable. With the right guidance, timely intervention, support, and a positive approach towards life, a person can move towards better mental and emotional well-being.
Take one step towards Ayurveda.
